A new boutique, lifestyle hotel is coming to downtown’s New South End, adding to the growing portfolio of unique hotels in Colorado Springs. The Catbird Hotel will be a full-service, independent, extended-stay hotel with 180 rooms, dining and meeting spaces.
The hotel is the second in the Catbird brand, joining the Catbird Hotel, Denver, which opened in 2021 in the trendy RiNo neighborhood. The project is spearheaded by Norwood Development Group in partnership with Sage Hospitality Group. The Catbird in Colorado Springs will join Sage’s celebrated portfolio of independent lifestyle hotels, including The Crawford Hotel, The Oxford Hotel, The Maven and The Rally in Denver as well as others across the country.
“Sage is a world-class hospitality organization,” said Norwood CEO Chris Jenkins in a press release. “We view Catbird as the start of a new wave of hospitality projects brought to Colorado Springs through the exciting collaboration between Norwood and Sage.”

The seven-story Catbird Hotel, Colorado Springs will be located on the northwest corner of Cascade and Moreno avenues, diagonally across the intersection from The Mae apartments and within walking distance of the popular Trolley Block restaurants and bars, including COATI, Cork and Cask, Dos Santos, the Denver Biscuit Company and more.
While it will draw inspiration from its sister location in RiNo, the Catbird, Colorado Springs will be unique to the community. “The Catbird design team has drawn inspiration from local artists, as well as from regional preferences, materials and cultural influences in the Pikes Peak region,” Tracy Doherty, Norwood’s vice president of marketing and communications, told us. “It will also offer a ground-floor dining experience for visitors and locals alike.”
Catbird, Denver is described as “a destination unto itself,” and it has won international recognition for its apartment-style design that includes full micro-kitchens and multifunctional loft beds with modular storage options. Catbird, Colorado Springs will offer similar flexible living spaces designed to feel more like home than a traditional hotel — though quite possibly more chic than home. Rooms will include fully equipped kitchens, in-room workspaces and modern amenities that cater to travelers seeking a comfortable place to stay for weeks or months at a time.

The Catbird, Colorado Springs is expected to feature unique social spaces such as an indoor-outdoor rooftop event space, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center. And like its sister hotel in Denver, Catbird in Colorado Springs will be home to a “playroom” with a signature lending program, offering everything from mopeds to snowboards for guests to borrow and use during their stay.
“We see tremendous potential in Colorado Springs as a dynamic destination that is welcoming business and leisure travelers,” said Daniel del Olmo, president of Sage Hospitality Group. “Partnering with Norwood Development Group, with their deep local expertise and visionary approach, gives us great confidence that this hotel will be a transformative project for the city, and a valuable addition to our portfolio.”
Groundbreaking for the Catbird, Colorado Springs is expected in spring 2025, and completion is scheduled for fall 2027.
