Who’s a good boy? The hard-working, highly trained dogs of the Colorado Springs Police Department K9 Unit. The specialized team deploys Police Service Dogs (PSDs) to support police patrol officers, detectives and tactical teams. And those canines help to locate missing persons or suspects, detect narcotics and explosives, apprehend dangerous suspects, encourage peaceful surrenders and more. To honor those four-legged public servants and their handlers, the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs has created its 2027 CSPD K9 Calendar through an exclusive partnership with Gold Hill Mesa, and it is available now.
The 2027 CSPD K9 Calendar was unveiled during a free community event Sept. 10 alongside Gold Hill Mesa’s Art on the Mesa exhibition, creating an evening centered on art, service and community. Guests met CSPD handler Simmons with K9 Wicket and CSPD handler Bastian with K9 Dutch. Attendees were also able to explore the gallery exhibition and enjoy light appetizers and drinks. It was a fitting celebration of the essential partnership between the Police Foundation and Gold Hill Mesa.
As the calendar’s exclusive community partner, Gold Hill Mesa welcomed the entire photography project throughout the community and supported its development from beginning to completion. With the leadership and support of Gold Hill Mesa’s Executive Vice President Stephanie Edwards, every photograph was captured across Gold Hill Mesa, giving the CSPD K9s a distinctive Colorado Springs setting.
“Gold Hill Mesa was far more than the setting for this calendar. They were a true partner in making it possible,” says Nicole Magic, President and Executive Director of the Police Foundation of Colorado Springs. “Stephanie Edwards supported the vision from the beginning and helped us create something that celebrates CSPD K9s and the power of community partnership.”
The 2027 CSPD K9 Calendar is available for $15. All proceeds from calendar sales benefit the K9 Units of the Colorado Springs Police Department and the mission of Police Foundation of Colorado Springs. Funds raised directly support the purchase of new K9s, officer training and equipment, medical trauma kits, scholarships for children of CSPD employees and other critical needs.
The Police Foundation of Colorado Springs is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the CSPD and fostering stronger community-police relations.
