Mornings Are So Back at Ivywild School

Bluebird Breakfast and Yellow Brick Bake Shop open inside Ivywild School, bringing breads, pastries, hot breakfast, craft coffee and morning hours back to the community marketplace.

Breakfast is back at Ivywild School — so are pastries and baked goods. Bluebird Breakfast and Yellow Brick Bake Shop are now open at the community-market-meets-food-hall hub. Along with renewed early coffee service at the long-time favorite Principal’s Office, the openings officially mark the return of mornings at Ivywild.

The changes come as part of the recent ownership shift between partners Blue Star Group and Bristol Brewing Company. Respective owners Joseph Coleman and Mike and Amanda Bristol partnered revitalize the former elementary school into a favorite local gathering place in 2013. As Coleman focuses on reimagining and reopening his Blue Star restaurant across Tejon Street, along with others including Stellina Pizza Cafe, the Bristols acquired full ownership of Ivywild School.

“We’re excited to bring breakfast back to Ivywild School,” Mike Bristol says. “Mornings in the building are quieter, so there’s more of a relaxed coffee shop vibe for remote workers or neighbors meeting for coffee and a scone. But it’s also great for someone who wants to pop in the back entrance and order a breakfast burrito to-go on their way to work.”

Bluebird Breakfast

Bluebird Breakfast has those burritos as part of a simple menu of hot breakfast items that also includes an omelet and French toast, plus fresh breakfast pastries from Yellow Brick Bake Shop and craft coffee from the Principal’s Office. Don’t miss a side of veggie green chili with your breakfast burrito. The eatery is open from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. daily.

Yellow Brick Bake Shop

You can also head directly to Yellow Brick Bake Shop for more morning pastries that range from scones with Devonshire cream and preserves to cinnamon rolls, Danishes and Norwegian school bread. Savory breads, tarts, cookies, brownies and desserts are also available throughout the day and evening. Everything is baked fresh on site, and Yellow Brick Bake Shop is open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The Principal’s Office

The Principal’s Office now opens at 7 a.m. every day to complement breakfast with craft coffee drinks brewed with beans from local roaster Loyal Coffee. Coffee is also available into the evening alongside the bar’s innovative craft cocktails.

The ordering counter for Bluebird Breakfast is located adjacent to the Principal’s Office. Yellow Brick Bake Shop sits just to the left inside the front doors of the school.
