Olympic City USA is bustling with exciting openings this year. Even long-time Springs locals can find something new to delight in, including places to explore, updates to beloved spaces and entertaining events.
Grow, learn and play!
Space Foundation Discovery Center
The Space Foundation Discovery Center is scheduled to reopen on June 1 after months of expansion and renovation. The changes will improve visitors’ experience with new technology, never-before-seen exhibits and engaging community events. A highly anticipated addition to the Discovery Center coming in a few years was also recently announced – a full-scale model of the James Webb Space Telescope!
The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
The Pioneers Museum plans to reopen its doors this summer after nearly a year of renovations. The 120-year-old building once served as the El Paso County Courthouse, and now will have a renovated HVAC system. Updates will also include the addition of exciting new exhibitions and an updated museum shop. Visitors will be able to explore places in the building that were previously closed to the public.
Dance the night away in Olympic City USA
Revel ReMix Dance Parties
In December 2022, AdAmAn Alley in Downtown Colorado Springs was reimagined with murals and installations to honor members of the AdAmAn Club – a nonprofit whose members ascend Pikes Peak each New Year’s Eve to set midnight fireworks off at the summit for all to enjoy. This summer, Downtown Partnership of Colorado Springs is launching Revel ReMix Dance Parties in AdAmAn Alley! On June 29, July 20 and August 24, community partners will join the Downtown Partnership in presenting themed dance parties complete with food, drink and live music.
Sunset Amphitheater
With the U.S. Air Force Academy and Pikes Peak as majestic backdrops, The Sunset will provide a high-end entertainment experience that supporters say will rival Red Rocks and Fiddler’s Green, longtime outdoor venues in the Denver area. Opening weekend takes place August 9-11, featuring OneRepublic, which was formed in Colorado Springs. Other big names coming this summer/fall include The Beach Boys, Walker Hayes, Lauren Daigle, Dierks Bentley, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, Jim Gaffigan, Pentatonix and Barenaked Ladies.
