Lumen8 Rooftop Social to Open Downtown

Will this be the best table-side view in Colorado Springs? Downtown will add a rooftop restaurant when the dual-branded Marriott property opens this spring.

There’s a new rooftop restaurant coming soon to downtown Colorado Springs. Lumen8 Rooftop Social, a contemporary restaurant and bar, will open this spring on the eighth floor of the dual-branded Marriott property, located at the corner of Tejon and Costilla streets. More than just a hotel eatery, this destination restaurant will offer American, contemporary cuisine with a focus on seasonal ingredients and local sourcing—served with prime views of downtown, Garden of the Gods and Cheyenne Mountain from its rooftop perch.

Lumen8 is expected to open in late April or early May 2022, along with the dual-branded Springhill Suites by Marriott and Element by Westin. The property will bring a combined 259 guestrooms and suites to downtown, as well as 4,200 square feet of meeting and event space.

The menu at Lumen8 will be approachable, upscale contemporary. Menu items span from small plates to larger shareables, with sides designed to mix and match to curate your experience. Highlights include a Colorado Striped Bass Crudo, Crispy Oyster Mushroom made with mushrooms from local farm Microvora, and Bison from River Rock Ranch.

Chris Starkus, director of food and beverage for Lumen8, Springhill Suites, and Element, says the team will use local purveyors for items such as mushrooms, fish and beef. He’s most excited about some of the local seafood offerings on the menu. “I think when people think of seafood, they think about how Colorado is landlocked,” Starkus said in a press release. But Lumen8 will offer a hybrid striped bass raised in Alamosa as well as a Colorado Trout.

The cocktail program will also be locally and seasonally driven, with spirits from Colorado Springs distillers, including Distillery 291 and Axe and the Oak, and craft beer from local breweries.

The restaurant design is light and airy and shaped to capitalize on both beautiful views and Colorado’s changing seasons. “It’s an excellent space to take in the view, enjoy a bottle of wine, and enjoy the evening with your family and friends,” Starkus said.

Other members of the leadership team include Forrest Jackson as food and beverage manager and Daniel Bartlett as executive chef. Follow Lumen8 on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on opening and business information.
