Leading local chef Brother Luck is replacing the much-loved Lucky Dumpling with a new concept and launching an intimate speakeasy cooking studio upstairs.
The upstairs space has a full kitchen and a cozy dining area that seats 24 people. Think of it as a micro-restaurant. Here, Chef Brother Luck will focus on quality over quantity, offering five-course meals during reservation-only seatings between 5 and 9 p.m., Wednesdays through Saturdays. The idea behind the concept is to offer diners an intimate studio experience. Already open, the March menu features Lobster Bisque, Grilled Pork Tenderloin and Cocoa Braised Short Ribs among its courses.
However, Brother Luck isn’t abandoning the old Lucky Dumpling space downstairs. Instead, he has partnered with Sean Fitzgerald, owner of the Wobbly Olive and Allusion Speakeasy, to reimagine the space as an Irish concept called Folklore.
Folklore’s Irish pub will keep Lucky Dumpling’s dining space, but the previously open kitchen will be walled off. As far as the food is concerned, guests can expect delicious traditional Irish fare, such as lamb stew, fish n’ chips and shepherd’s pie. But you can be sure Brother Luck will put his spin on them.
Lucky Dumpling had expanded to include the adjacent space that was once the Triple Nickel. That area now will become an ancillary cocktail lounge that Luck and Fitzgerald are calling the Tipperary. Here, Fitzgerald has planned a story-forward cocktail menu with a primary focus on bringing back classics.
The pair had teased opening Folklore in time for St. Patrick’s Day this year, but Brother Luck has announced it will be another week. So keep your eye out for more news to come.
