A longtime favorite Colorado Springs Mexican restaurant will be closing its doors at the end of August. Owner Randi Price took to social media in late July to announce that the 24-year-old Salsa Brava will be serving its last margarita on Aug. 29.
“Salsa Brava was the restaurant that started it all,” Price said in a press release. “Twenty-four years ago, we set out to create a place where people could enjoy great food and genuine hospitality. What followed became something much bigger than a restaurant. Every guest, every team member and every celebration helped shape who we are today. While this chapter is bittersweet, I’m incredibly proud that Salsa Brava’s legacy will continue through our people, our restaurants and our continued commitment to this amazing community.”
Salsa Brava was the original concept of Rocky Mountain Restaurant Group, which also owns Urban Egg. The two concepts shared a kitchen with side-by-side restaurants at its Powers and Dublin location. Now the popular breakfast eatery will expand into the existing Salsa Brava. It’s a trend that has continued through the years, as Salsa Brava formerly operated four locations in Colorado Springs, Denver and Fort Collins.
Many favorite Salsa Brava traditions will carry on at Urban Egg, including Salsa Brava’s signature green chile and its popular pineapple-infused vodka. The company also said it will continue its commitment to Teachers First, local philanthropy and community partnerships.
As for the final celebration, “We are going to celebrate our amazing team members, our incredible guests and 24 awesome years of serving the best Mexican food in Colorado Springs and up and down the Front Range,” Price said in a Facebook video.
Throughout August, Salsa Brava will offer throwback 2002 margarita pricing and classic dishes. There will be live music the last two weekends, Price said.
“We’re really going to celebrate this brand and go out with some grace, the same way we brought it in,” Price said. “Thank you so much for 24 amazing years, and I really hope to see you at Salsa Brava sometime before Aug. 29.”
