Stoney’s Bar & Grill is bringing its Colorado-themed sports bar to downtown Colorado Springs. The locally owned Colorado concept takes over the prominent Tejon Street space formerly occupied by Oskar Blues, opening its doors to the public on Sept. 2.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the tried-and-true Stoney’s experience to downtown Colorado Springs,” says owner Stoney Jesseph. “This space has a great history as a place where people come together, and being right in the middle of Tejon Street puts us at the center of the action. We can’t wait to welcome Colorado Springs fans, neighbors, workers and visitors through our doors.”
Stoney’s is opening just in time for football season. College football kicks off this week, with the NFL following the next. TVs throughout the space will give fans the best seat in the house no matter which team they’re cheering for. Stoney’s also plans to become the official downtown watch-party home for select college teams and NFL fan groups — announcements coming soon).
“Stoney’s feels like a natural fit for downtown and for this location,” says Chelsea Gondeck, CEO of the Downtown Partnership. “It’s more than another place to grab a drink or watch a game. Tejon Street is at its best when people are here to meet up, catch a game, listen to music, or just spend time together, and Stoney’s fits right into that mix — especially with football season getting underway. We’re excited to welcome them to downtown and look forward to seeing people fill the place on game days and beyond.”
Game days may be a big part of Stoney’s, but it won’t be the only reason to stop in. Their plans also include live entertainment, trivia nights and daily specials plus a pumpkin-carving party already planned for fall.
The menu also features fan favorites, such as wings, nachos, fried cheese curd, and burgers. But it goes beyond the standard sports-bar playbook with unexpected choices that include loaded “party fries,” Birria Grilled Cheese, a Korean Chicken Sandwich and a Honey Sriracha Salmon Bowl. There are also vegetarian and vegan options, such as the Impossible Cheesesteak.
The downtown Colorado Springs location will be Stoney’s fifth bar, adding Tejon Street to a lineup that already includes three Denver locations and one in Winter Park.
