Jasmine Dillavou

Jasmine Dillavou is a Boricua (of Puerto Rican heritage) mixed media artist, Creative Director for Ephemera Dinners, instructor for the Bemis School of Art and many-hat-wearing community member in Colorado Springs. “I really do define myself as a strong Boricua woman, and I use that as the basis of my art practice,” she says. “That Latinadad heritage and history are integral to the work I make and the stories that I tell. It’s important to me to tell vulnerable stories about my history and my past, so that they open a space for other people to tell those stories, particularly Hispanic and Latinas because we share those stories. When we make a platform for other people to feel safe to do that, then we can open up the narrative to a much bigger thing than it begins with.”
