Colorado Springs Switchbacks at Weidner Field

The Colorado Springs Switchbacks Football Club is a professional soccer team and member of the USL Championship. Newly opened in 2021, Weidner Field in Downtown Colorado Springs has home games running from April through September. Enjoy a match with great views of downtown to the east and the Front Range to the west. Don’t forget to snap a pic at the stadium’s iconic, LED-illuminated sculpture, “The Epicenter.”

Rocky Mountain Vibes at UCHealth Park

The Rocky Mountain Vibes are an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League, an MLB Partner League. Games run May through September. Spectators of all ages will have a blast at UCHealth Park. Keep your eyes peeled for Toasty, the team’s s’more mascot. At every Friday night home game, the stadium launches fireworks, and Saturday nights are theme nights.

The Colorado College Tigers men’s ice hockey team is an NCAA Division I program. Games run October through March. Robson Arena opened in 2021, allowing the Tigers to play their games on campus for the first time in the history of the program. Visitors will enjoy the proximity of the arena to downtown.

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

This year boasts the 100th running of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC). Known as The Race to the Cloud, the event is an invitational automobile hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain. Taking place on Sunday, June 26, tickets are available for spectator viewing. A Fan Fest takes place on the Friday before race day, June 24 in Downtown Colorado Springs. The fest is a 10-block street party action-packed with stunts and displays.

Cinch Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo

For the first time this year, the 81st Cinch Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo welcomes the NFR Open at the Norris Penrose Event Center July 13-16. The inaugural NFR Open powered by RAM is one of the biggest rodeos of the 2022 PRORODEO season with a $1 million prize purse. The rodeo will feature more than 200 athletes along with a variety of traditional western events that the whole family will enjoy.

Rocky Mountain State Games

The Rocky Mountain State Games (RMSG) is Colorado’s largest multi-sport festival for athletes of all ages and athletic abilities. More than 6,000 athletes participate, and more than 300 volunteers are needed to successfully run the event. The games are held July 22-24 and 29-31. Attend as a spectator or join as a volunteer to assist with athlete check-in, information booths, set-up and tear-down, course marshals, scoring, timing and more.

Pikes Peak Ascent + Marathon

The Pikes Peak Marathon is the oldest continually held marathon in the U.S. and takes runners up to the summit of Pikes Peak at 14,115 feet and then back down. Cheer runners on as a spectator or join as a volunteer, tackling roles like information guidance, start line assistant, wave sign holder, runner assistant, finish line water and snacks attendant, beer garden attendant and more.

Pikes Peak APEX

The Pikes Peak APEX is a four-day mountain bike challenge on the trails of the Pikes Peak Region that started in 2020. This year’s event takes place September 22-25. The event is a fundraiser for the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance Trail Stewardship Fund, which has raised over $25,000 in the first two years of the APEX.

Support as a spectator or sign up to volunteer to help run the event with roles like course marshal, event tent, social media content collection, aid station and more. The event will host the APEX Outdoor Festival and Expo on Sunday, September 25, featuring food trucks and a beer garden.
