A wildly inspiring online fun dive into what really happens when music crawls inside your mind. The answer will change your tune in life. Music lovers get your screen cued up, feet propped, a cold drink poured, and the popcorn bowl filled. Prepare to leave the musical shallows for deep places you’ve never gone before. This course gives you access to recordings and is not a virtual or in-person class.

The first of the series provides you with four hours of intriguing “music and mind” education, insights, and music. Discover three secrets you never knew about the music you love and three intriguing interviews with national music artists exploring their insights into those secrets and weaving their personal music into the dialogue. National music artists include:

Molly Lord, Creator of Tuned-In Productions and your facilitator.
Thomas Dawson, Jr., Motown Group, The Commodores, and film producer.
David Wilcox, Singer, songwriter, performer, and storyteller extraordinaire.
Livingston Taylor, Songwriter, performer, college professor, and author (and yes, brother to James Taylor).

You’ll never listen to music the same again. Your job is to relax, push play, and listen. Really listen. Thanks to a generous grant, the reduced price is offered for a limited time only.

In celebration of Arts Month 2022, the Pikes Peak Outdoor Recreation Alliance, Fountain Creek Watershed Flood Control & Greenway District, Creek Week, and the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region have joined forces once again to orchestrate the 5th annual Pikes Peak Litter Letter Project. Each year, our local Litter Letter Project produces a unique piece of sculptural art that is constructed with trash collected from public lands and waterways during Creek Week. Modeled after the national Litter Letter Project, and with permission to use their logo and concept, our local Litter Letter Project is a fun and inspiring annual event that signals the official start of Arts Month. It’s also a wonderful cross-sector collaboration between the Arts, Outdoor Recreation, and Environmental sectors that benefits the entire region! Our past words have been INSPIRE (2018), PRISTINE (2019), RESILIENT (2020), and RESPECT (2021). This year’s word is: PRICELESS.

On Friday, September 30th at 4:30PM, there will be a dedication ceremony for the 2022 Litter Letter art piece. The dedication event is free and open to the public, and will feature brief remarks by project partners and community leaders. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided, as well as live musical entertainment from Ryan Flores, courtesy of the Curbside Culture program. Throughout the month of October, the local community is also invited to support our Litter Letter Project though a special social media campaign on Instagram, by using the hashtag #PikesPeakLitterLetters to tell us why you think our public lands and waterways are PRICELESS?

Interested in “adopting” a letter to fill with your Creek Week Cleanup Crew? Email creekweeksoco@gmail.com for more information.

The litter letters, constructed by local nonprofit Concrete Couch, will be on display throughout the month of October in celebration of Arts Month. Well-sited on a berm, just off Cimarron Street, east of I-25 and south of America the Beautiful Park, the art piece is also visible from the adjacent trail.

Media inquiries and questions about the project should be directed to Andy Vick at andy@CulturalOffice.org.

Why Latinos? Because we are joining forces and uniting Hispanic Heritage Month and Arts Month for our highlight event, "Plein Air LIVE".

The idea for Hispanic Heritage Month began as a way to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic-Americans — specifically, those whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. It is observed annually from September 15 to October 15. It is a time to appreciate and celebrate the colorful cultures, rich histories, and diversity of the American Latino community. This year, our “Plein Air LIVE” event will feature an eclectic collection of Latino artists live at the new downtown restaurant Lumen8 Rooftop Social.

Lumen8 Rooftop Social will showcase Latino artists painting “en plein air” while the restaurant and designated parts of the 8th floor will host and exhibit different mediums of art by Latino/a artists from our community. There will be a budget to pay artists for their time and for painting materials. We are open to ideas and other negotiations. So if you are a passionate artist with Hispanic heritage and are interested in participating in this Arts Month Highlight event, please email us at: jaguart03@gmail.com

Estamos abiertos a ideas y otras negociaciones. Entonces, si usted es un/a artista apasionado con herencia hispana y está interesado en participar en este evento destacado del Mes de las Artes, envíenos un correo electrónico a: jaguart03@gmail.com

Zach Williams has become one of CCM’s leading artists and songwriters by carving a niche with his singular blend of southern rock, country, and faith-filled songwriting, which quickly awarded him his first Grammy Award® with his debut album, 2017’s Chain Breaker. With two additional Grammy nods among numerous other accolades, he now returns to share his boldly vulnerable and hope-filled sophomore album, aptly titled Rescue Story.

Zach’s music pulls from the hard luck truths of outlaw country, the dirt-road grit of southern rock, the contemporary roots music of alt-country artists, and a firm grounding in classic and contemporary Christian artists that stretches back to his dad’s old Petra records. His songs enlighten and uplift, revealing powerful transformative moments and stirring affirmations to stay on God’s path.

Every animal has a unique set of skills and physical features that make them the best at living in their habitats; called adaptations.

In this class for kids aged 8 – 12, we will look at various types of adaptations that make those animals the best at what they do.  Led by our Education Specialist Mike Bideau, each class will focus on one major type of adaptation and will have an experiment where we will try out what it is like to have those adaptations.

This month we will be looking at mimicry.  Why do animals mimic each other?  How does this help them survive?

*All children must be accompanied by at least one adult
