Previewing The Broadmoor Colorado Appreciation Dining Specials and Package

It’s a good time to be a Coloradan. Locals can enjoy discounted stays and special prix fixe menus that include Summit and The Penrose Room for the first time ever.

Colorado foodies and travel lovers, this is an excellent time of year. The Broadmoor’s Colorado Appreciation Package and Prix Fixe Dining Specials are back, and there’s a bonus this year. For the first time ever, the superb flagships Summit and The Penrose Room are included in the dining offerings. If you’ve been looking for a discount deal to enjoy the five-star luxuries of The Broadmoor, this is your best chance.

“We want our local community to come enjoy these meals and rediscover The Penrose Room, especially if they’ve felt a little hesitant after its long closure,” says Krista Heinicke, director of public relations. “It’s the perfect moment to treat yourself after the mayhem of the holidays and visiting relatives — whether that’s a stay at The Broadmoor, a Broadmoor Sessions weekend with Big Head Todd and the Monsters, or dinner with our Colorado Appreciation menus. All of these experiences are right here in your backyard, and we’re excited to welcome everyone back.”

This year the Colorado Appreciation Package ties into commemoration of Colorado’s 150th birthday and America’s 250th. Weekday stays start at $318 Sunday through Thursday, and weekend rates begin at $349. Rates are based on double occupancy. Package highlights include guided art and history tours and 25% off of suites. They are available from Jan. 1 to Feb. 27.

But you don’t have to be an overnight guest to enjoy The Broadmoor Prix Fixe Dining Specials from Jan. 1 to March 1, excluding Valentine’s Day weekend, Feb. 12-15. The three-course menus include a choice of appetizer, entree and dessert at all five of The Broadmoor’s major restaurants with varying prices as follows:

  • The Golden Bee: Lunch and Dinner, $49
  • Ristorante Del Lago: Dinner, $59
  • La Taverne: Dinner, $69
  • Summit: Dinner, $79
  • The Penrose Room: Dinner, $79

We recently enjoyed a media preview of the menus at The Penrose Room and Summit. Everything we tasted was fabulous, and there was a nice variety of options across the two menus. That’s true across the prix fixe menus at all five restaurants, which are designed to provide variety. Most of them include salads and soups among the appetizers. All the entree collections include beef, chicken or fish and a vegetarian option. And the desserts are all decadent. (Del Lago has the tiramisu, but The Penrose Room has four options instead of the average two.)

Much of the overall focus of the Colorado Appreciation special menus is on highlighting popular dishes from each restaurant. But the culinary team also expresses pride in showcasing their emphasis on local, seasonal ingredients. “We tend to do as local and seasonal as possible,” says Rocio Neyra Palmer, Chef de Cuisine for Summit “We change the menu almost five times for a year.”

Many of the herbs and vegetables are grown at Broadmoor Farms greenhouses. And its exclusive Wagyu beef is Colorado-raised at Eagles Nest Ranch.

Typical of Broadmoor cuisine, the dishes on the Colorado Appreciation Prix Fixe menus are as beautiful as they are flavorful. So we’ll let the pictures do the talking for the rest of the highlights. And you can check out the full menus here.

I’m from Peru, so we like crispy skin, we like ceviche, we like spicy, and we like French.” Photo by Jeremy Jones.
