The Lot at Meanwhile Block Creates New Space for Food Trucks

The Lot at Meanwhile Block brings a new hub for food trucks and community to downtown.

There’s a new regular gathering space for local food trucks downtown. The Lot at Meanwhile Block will be the only specifically dedicated food truck lot in the Springs, and it will host a rotating selection of some of the best food trucks in Colorado Springs each week.

“The city has been waiting for a dedicated food truck lot, and we’re thrilled to bring The Lot to downtown Colorado Springs,” says Bria Yatsko of Norwood Development Group. “This is just the beginning of the new activations we plan to introduce at Meanwhile Block this year, as we continue to build a vibrant, welcoming venue and cultural gathering space within the Park Union District.”

The Lot at Meanwhile Block will officially open on Saturday, March 15, timing with the Switchbacks FC home season opener and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and 5K. There is a soft launch planned for Friday, March 14.

Situated in the heart of the Park Union District, The Lot at Meanwhile Block is located between Weidner Field and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum. The location makes a prime gathering place for pregame tailgaters, downtown professionals, or visitors to the USOPM or other downtown sites. Easy access from Interstate 25 also makes it an option for a quick lunch or dinner stop.

To start, food trucks will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays with lunch service from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and dinner service from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Watch for hours to expand in the spring or summer season. There is seating for guests, and shaded areas are planned additions for the near future. Prime views of Pikes Peak and downtown Colorado Springs are always available.

The new food truck lot is part of the broader vision for the Park Union District, an emerging urban neighborhood bordering the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum and America the Beautiful Park. Its owner, Norwood Development Group, describes its vision for the area as a walkable, experience-driven community that seamlessly connects culture, entertainment and local businesses. The district is also home to the gorgeously designed Park Union Bridge, which connects the museum and the park. The Lot at Meanwhile Block is designed to be a community gathering place, bringing energy and activity to Park Union while offering an accessible and enjoyable food option for those attending events at Weidner Field, the Olympic and Paralympic Museum and downtown.

As Park Union continues to evolve, the Meanwhile Block serves as a canvas for creativity and a unique event space and downtown venue. The Lot is the latest addition to the growing activity hub, but watch for more opportunities for connection, culinary exploration and cultural engagement.
