Colorado Springs is gearing up to welcome a new honky-tonk hotspot as Denver’s iconic Grizzly Rose expands into the city with the Whiskey Rose. Taking over the former Whiskey Baron space at Vickers and Academy, this new venue promises to bring the same energy and star-studded entertainment that has made the Grizzly Rose a country music institution in north Denver.
“We hope to bring what we do in Denver to give Colorado Springs a great place to check out live music and learn to dance and enjoy all the offerings that we have at the Grizzly Rose,” says Lindy Arnold, general manager of the Grizzly Rose.
Known for hosting some of the biggest names in country music, including Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks and even Taylor Swift, the Grizzly Rose has built a reputation as a must-visit destination for country music fans. The venue will showcase a mix of both top-tier country performers and rising artists, making it an exciting addition to the local music scene.
Arnold says they will try to book artists for concerts in both of the Roses as much as possible. “The first grand opening concert at the Whiskey Rose will be Bryan Martin on Thursday, and then he’ll play in Denver on Friday,” Arnold says.
The early lineup is already taking shape, with shows ranging from the big-name Martin to rising stars like Thomas Mac and Mason Ramsey and up and comers A Thousand Horses and Chase Bryant.

Arnold says the footprint and programming at the Whiskey Rose will also be similar to the Grizzly Rose, though there may be variations with concert nights. Wednesdays will feature free dance lessons. Thursday is Ladies Night, offering free well drinks for women aged 21 and over from 8 p.m. to midnight. Fridays and Saturdays will feature live music, with concert nights open to guests 18 and older. Sundays will be Family Night, open to all ages. And, yes, there will be a mechanical bull.
For years, Colorado Springs often existed in the shadow of larger Denver when it came to major concerts. But as the city grows and new venues such as Ford Amphitheatre and Weidner Field emerge as large concert venues, residents now have more opportunities to enjoy top-rated performers closer to home.
The arrival of The Whiskey Rose is generating plenty of excitement, and with its mix of big-name acts and emerging talent, the venue is expected to become a go-to spot for fans of country music and line dancing. The grand opening is Thursday, March 6.
