Arepapi

Arepapi, located inside COATI food hall, brings a creative twist to traditional Columbian arepas.

Chef Andres Velez is at it again. Along with partner and restaurateur Aaron Ewton, the culinary genius behind PigLatin Cocina and Anju has been bringing much-welcomed flavor to the Springs since 2017. (PigLatin started as a food truck in 2013.) Arepapi is the latest delicious addition to COATI food hall, along with Velez’s other new concepts at COATI Food Hall: Toasted Bunz and Green Freak.

Arepapi brings the vibrant flavors of Colombia to Colorado Springs with its signature dish: the arepa. These gluten-free cornmeal patties, a staple in Colombian cuisine, are often described as a Latin American twist on pita or as, “Imagine if a sandwich and a taco had a baby.” Arepapi’s menu spans the full range of savory to sweet, all while staying true to its Colombian roots.

At first taste, we love the Mother Clucker, an arepa generously stuffed with avocado, cilantro, chicken salad, grilled pineapple, red onion, cotija and spicy salsa roja. But don’t take our word for it — get your tickets to Taste of COATI, COATI’s Birthday Bash, on Sept. 7 for unlimited tasting samples.
