The Red Leg food courtyard is growing with a new concept from a popular resident. On Feb. 3, Gunnar’s Deli celebrated its grand opening, officially joining Red Leg Brewing Company “food courtyard.” The new concept offers guests a new, scratch-made deli experience to enjoy alongside Red Leg’s award-winning craft beer.
The new deli will feature classic and elevated sandwiches made with fresh ingredients. It is owned by local entrepreneur Malek Deeb, who is also the owner of Sasquatch Cookies, another popular concept located at the food courtyard. With Gunnar’s Deli, Deeb continues his commitment to creating high-quality food concepts that complement Red Leg’s community-focused atmosphere. Gunnar’s promises to serve stacked, Midwest-style sandwiches. The menu includes options such as Chicago-inspired Moe’s Windy City and a hot corned beef 54th and 2nd.
“Red Leg Brewing Company has built an incredible space centered around community, great food and bringing people together,” Deeb shares. “With Gunnar’s Deli, my goal is to add a familiar, comforting and high-quality option to the food courtyard that complements the other great vendors already here. Having both Gunnar’s Deli and Sasquatch Cookies on site allows guests and families to enjoy a wide range of flavors — from savory to sweet — making it a place where there’s truly something for everyone.”
Gunnar’s Deli draws its name and logo from Deeb’s dog, who is listed as the chief taste tester. His favorite is a turkey and cheese sandwich, so No. 1 on the menu is a turkey and cheese sandwich named — what else — The Gunnar. There’s even a basic dog sub version of it for pups.
Red Leg’s Westside brewery is a popular spot, thanks in large part to its beer garden setup that features a large courtyard for community events, live music and yard games, as well as craft beer and a range of eateries to choose from.
Red Leg is one of the Top 3 finalists in our 2025 People’s Choice Awards and one of our Best Breweries in Colorado Springs.
