Another chicken finger chain has its sights set on the Springs. With deep roots in Alabama, Guthrie’s Chicken has submitted plans to open in Briargate near Chapel Hills Mall, according to the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department’s Facebook page.
Known for its no-frills menu — chicken fingers, fries, Texas toast, coleslaw and Guthrie’s signature sauce — the chain has built a loyal following across the Southeast. Guthrie’s launched in 1965 with its first restaurant in Haleyville, Alabama, and now operates more than 70 restaurants across the U.S. The Colorado Springs location will mark a westward move for the brand as its first restaurant in Colorado, with potential for more stores in the state. The 2,300-square-foot Springs location will feature drive-thru service and patio seating.
Construction is expected to begin this fall. An official opening date hasn’t been announced.
