Next door to its current taproom, Lost Friend Brewing Company is expanding with a clearer purpose: Make room for more people, more often, without losing what has made it a regular stop for locals. Built as a dog-loving, community-focused neighborhood craft brewery, the spirit of the space, including dogs, isn’t going anywhere.

Construction is underway in the former Burn Boot Camp space at N. Academy Boulevard and Union Boulevard in the Montebello Square shopping center. The opening will come in phases in 2026, but owner and head brewer Andy France isn’t revealing a specific deadline. The team will expand into the new area first, then renovate the original taproom.

France says the direction is less about adding features and more about widening the circle. “The biggest thing for us is creating a community space where everyone feels welcome and comfortable, regardless of what they’re drinking,” he says. “Beer is still at the core of what we do, but we’re using what we’ve learned to build something that goes beyond just a brewery.”

The expansion adds more seating designed for comfort, along with increased production capacity. A full bar is also in the works, along with a lineup of nonalcoholic options.

Food will take on a more permanent role. The Shed, a barbecue fusion concept from BC’s BBQ, will move in as an in-house partner, with additional food options expected.

Hours will extend into the morning, with plans to open earlier for remote workers and anyone looking for a place to settle in with coffee and breakfast.

A new 50-person event space will be available for private rentals. It will be available to select nonprofits and community groups at no cost. When not reserved, it will serve as a family-friendly area where parents can work or relax while kids stay occupied.
