A new downtown coffee shop on North Nevada Avenue is pairing sustainability with a creative gathering space for the neighborhood.
Misty Mountain Collective opened in December 2025, just one block south of Colorado College’s Ed Robson Arena. Owners Dakota and Stormy Wilkerson describe it as an eco-conscious lounge — a café designed around sustainability while also serving as a place for artists and community events. With Colorado College and the downtown core just a few blocks away, the area sees no shortage of coffee traffic.
Misty Mountain Collective aims to stand out with a different approach, starting with how drinks are served. Customers enjoying their coffee inside the café receive reusable mugs or glasses. For drinks to go, beverages are poured into mason jars with a small refundable deposit. Customers can return the jar on a future visit to receive the deposit back, a system designed to cut down on disposable cups. The coffee shop also partners with Humble Coffee, a local zero-emissions coffee roaster, to ensure its sustainable practices.
The drink menu includes traditional espresso drinks alongside options made with house syrups prepared in small batches using herbs and other natural ingredients.
Beyond coffee, Misty Mountain Collective was designed to function as a gathering space for artists and performers. Artwork from local creators hangs throughout the coffeehouse, and the shop plans to host events such as open mic nights, poetry readings and small performances.
The goal is to create a place where people can spend time, share creative work and experience art in an informal setting.
