Reception Coffee and Cocktails

Hold Fast Coffee opens a sister spot for elevated coffee and cocktails.

Since beginning in 2013 as a little cafe called Peak Place, Hold Fast Coffee has continued to evolve. Its latest progression is called Reception, a new sister coffee and cocktails bar across the patio-parking lot space between it and Hold Fast. As the company’s Instagram puts it, it’s “a new way to experience Hold Fast, from coffee by day to cocktails by night, intentionally crafted ‘for here.’”

Reception opened Oct. 2. It is located in the gathering and event space formerly known as Almagre near Academy and Montebello. Though the space has naturally been redone, it maintains an elevated vibe, part hipster, part swank. Seating includes plush sofas and armchairs, and the wide bar offers a front row seat for the libation creation.

By day, Reception serves as a Hold Fast tasting room where baristas have the time and space to feature a range of manual brew methods that showcase a mix of the roastery’s offerings, plus By the Barista signature drinks that look and taste like works of art.

By night, it’s an elevated experience with cocktails, a chef-driven food menu and a curated wine list. One unique offering is the customized espresso martini experience, which features the option to select a range of Hold Fast coffees from geshas and reserve lots to coffees developed with unique processes.

Daytime hours are Thursday to Sunday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nighttime hours are Thursday to Saturday, 4-9 p.m. Happy hour is 4-5 p.m. even on Saturdays.

Reservations are not needed for the daytime. For evenings, reservations available on Tock.
