Tommy’s Tacos may be new to Colorado Springs, but its menu carries a story simmering for three generations. What began as humble home cooking in Mexico in 1986 has grown into a legacy of recipes refined across decades, states and celebrations. Now tucked along Nevada Avenue near Fillmore Street, Tommy’s Tacos welcomes guests with the same warmth that fills the family kitchen.

Before opening their Colorado Springs restaurant in November, the family first shared their food in Arizona, launching a restaurant in 1996 and later a beloved food truck that traveled through the 2000s. Their menu today keeps this promise alive.

Guests will find a range of tacos, burritos, tortas, carne asada plates, breakfast favorites and Mexican cuisine specialties like birria tacos and their famous Super Nachos. Each dish is rooted in tradition, but a few stand out as pure expressions of family history. Yesenia, owner of Tommy’s Tacos, says the Mole Plate is a treasured recipe reserved for birthdays, holidays and other meaningful gatherings.

“We love serving the freshest meals and taking our customers back to when they would eat mole at grandma’s house,” she says. Their Birria Tacos are slow-cooked, deeply flavored and served with savory consommé. For something unforgettable, Ramen Birria blends soft noodles with Tommy’s signature birria for a rich, comforting twist.

Most plates range from $12 to $16, with tacos between $3 and $5. Tres leches cake, churros, buñuelos, premade tamales and full catering options ensure every craving — and every celebration — is covered.

What defines Tommy’s Tacos is the love sprinkled into every dish. “From the first ingredient to stirring and mixing the food, we do it all with love,” Yesenia says. “You can taste it in every bite.”

Tommy’s Tacos is open for dine-in, pickup and delivery seven days a week.
