Sarap Filipino, a new Filipino restaurant scheduled to open in September, is bringing authentic Filipino cuisine to the Springs Ranch Shopping Center in the Powers Corridor. The name Sarap means “delicious” in Filipino and describes the culinary experience the owners say they’re aiming to offer.
Owned by Daryl and Katelyn Woodward and Shane Yingtavorn, this fast-casual Filipino restaurant will feature counter service and catering options.
Daryl Woodward was born in the Philippines and raised in Colorado Springs. He was inspired to open Sarap Filipino after his parents retired and returned to the Philippines leaving him longing for his mother’s home-cooked meals. The menu will include a blend of traditional and fusion Filipino dishes, such as pork and chicken adobo, lumpia and halo-halo, a layered Filipino dessert.
After the closure of two previous Filipino restaurants in the same location, the owners recognized an opportunity to reintroduce authentic Filipino flavors to the area. Those familiar with the previous restaurant, You-Ka Cafe, will be pleased to find some familiar items, such as empanadas, on Sarap Filipino’s menu.
Watch for an opening in September.
