Wanting to represent Puerto Rican cuisine in the Springs’ restaurant scene, Mildred and Phil Boden decided to open their own restaurant, Pedacito Boricua Café.
Pedacito Boricua Café recently opened in Southeast Springs near the airport. The restaurant offers guests a little slice of Puerto Rico, and the owners have described their new venture on social media as, “Where we eat in Spanish and talk in English.” The menu features authentic soups, seafood, sandwiches, fried chicken, milkshakes, pastries, coffee and more. Daily lunch specials offer a choice of meats on a bed of Puerto Rican or Cuban style rice, plus sweet plantains or tostones for $9.99.
The café is open seven days a week from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 296 S. Academy Blvd.
