After successful pop-up testing, Phonephet “Rabbit” Southichack, former head sushi chef at B&R Sushi Bar downtown, has opened a Japanese pub on the ground floor above Lulu’s Downstairs in Manitou Springs called Tenko Izakaya. Southichack opened the pub in November 2022 in partnership with Lulu’s Downstairs owner Marc Benning.
Tenko Izakaya will serve various Japanese fare as shareable appetizers or entrees, including shio ramen, goyza, yakitori, tempura, miso soup and more. Southichack eventually plans to expand the concept into a larger space for dining.
